2007 Advent and Christmas
We do not preach only one coming of Christ, but a second as well, much more glorious than
the first. The first coming was marked by patience; the second will bring the crown of a divine
kingdom.

Keeping Christmas
Are you willing to believe that love is the strongest thing in the world— stronger than hate, stronger than evil, stronger than death—and that the blessed life which began in Bethlehem nineteen hundred years ago is the image and brightness of the Eternal Love?
Then you can keep Christmas. And if you can keep it for a day, why not always?
But you can never keep it alone.

Christ is Risen! I Believe in...
I believe in one God who made us all and whose divinity infuses us all. I believe in the multiple revelations of God alive in human hearts, expressed in every culture, and found in all the wisdom of the world.
I believe that Jesus Christ, the unique Son of God, is the face of God in whom we see best the divine mercy, justice and compassion to which we are all called. Through Christ we become new people, lifted to the fullness of life.
By the power of the Holy Spirit He was born of the woman Mary, pure in soul and single-hearted. He showed us the Way, lived it for us, suffered from it and died beause of it, so that we might live with a new heart, new mind and new strength. On the third day, God raised Him from the dead, and He rose in those He left behind and in each of us as well.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the breath of God on earth, who keeps the Christ present in our souls. The Spirit has spoken to the human heart through the prophets, and gives new meaning to the Word throughout time.
I believe in one holy and universal church, bound together by the holiness of creation and the holiness of hearts forever true. I acknowledge the need to be freed from the compulsions of my disordered life and my need for forgiveness in the face of frailty. I look for life eternal in ways I cannot dream and trust that God goes on creating in this world and in us, forever. Amen. Artwork: Christ is Risen by Gail Kahu & Steve Taira

Word
of God
Source
of Life and Hope
The struggle is not
against systems and individuals; it is rather a matter of making
the Holy Spirit present where there is no spirit, of establishing
the Word of God where there is no word, so that a logic of life
and love may spring from one of death.
The Word
of God that resounds in the community awakens, renews and also
brings hearers to the obedience of faith.
The coming
decades will show the powerful influence and impact of DEI
VERBUM (Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation,
Vatican II, 1965). The reading of the Bible is called for
by a new reality and situation for Christians, the dialogue with
other religions and the need for prayer centered on hearing.
With an understanding
of the Biblical message, there will be the fullness of Christian
prayer which begins with the experience of listening to the Word
of God.
The Catholic
Biblical Association of Canada is constantly searching
for interesting and exciting ways to make the Bible come to life
and be relevant for all ages. We have developed the following
programs and resources:
The
Biblical Spirituality Program completed its 16th
semester in Spring, 2005. World-renowned Biblical lecturers challenge
our spirituality in these Spring and Fall series. A Continuing
Education Certificate is awarded to those who complete
100 hours in this and other programs offered by the CBAC. Interested
but can't attend: audio/video tapes can be purchased. Titles
and lecturers are now posted on the web. List

Pilgrimages:
Travel/Study Programs to the lands of the Bible (Israel,
Egypt, Greece, Turkey and Italy ). The Bible comes alive as you
journey through history to the ancient Biblical lands on custom-designed
tours led by outstanding Bible scholars. Pilgrims end their journey
with fresh viewpoints and new friendships. Catholic Biblical has
sponsored over 50 pilgrimages since 1985.

Bibles and bible-related materials (audio, video, CD-ROM and MP3
formats). When you purchase materials from our store, you are
helping us in our ministry.
You are invited to be
a partner in our work. With a donation of $30 or more, you will
receive our Journal, The Word is
Life, discounts on Programs and Resources. Above
all, you will be supporting the only English Canadian Catholic
Association specifically focused on assisting Catholics across
Canada to become more aware of the Bible and to provide services
to meet their needs.
Our team of dedicated
staff, volunteers and prayer partners is growing. Join the many
who have experienced life through the Word of God made relevant
in today's world. The most important thing is that the reading
of the Bible helps individuals and communities write the Gospels
on the pages of their lives. For this we give thanks and
rejoice in God's amazing gifts!
