The God who invites us on a journey and
into a Conversation of Hope and Confidence in God’s Mercy
Reflections for Lent 2008
Ash Wednesday marks the first day of a symbolic journey that all Christians take and a special conversation we have with God on the way to Easter. These reflections then are words to send you on this journey of sin and repentance, to invite you into this conversation of hope and confidence in God’s mercy, and to call you to this time of baptismal renewal and conversion.

2007 Easter Meeting the Risen Christ in Everyday Moments
Remembering the past, seeing a stranger, hearing the commands “come” and “go,” being comforted with a greeting of peace, sharing a meal – these simple, ordinary, everyday happenings are the ways through which we learn about the Resurrection, the defining moment in our Christian story. This story is so important that we give one-quarter of our year to remembering and celebrating it (ninety days all together including forty days of Lent and fifty days of Eastertide). Is it really possible that we come to know the richness and depth of this story through such ordinary images? And, if so, is it possible that we then live the joys of the Resurrection in our ordinary, everyday lives?

2006 Advent Celebrating our Advent "Comings"
...During the year’s darkest months of November and December, many major religions invite us to celebrations of light: Eid (Islam), Diwali (Hinduism, Sikhism, and Jainism), Hanukkah (Judaism), and Christmas (Christianity). Each celebration has its own rich symbols and participative rituals to inspire and call its members to be light for poor and suffering people. Ultimately, then, you are the people and the symbols of Advent for the people you meet every day. For people and communities in their darkest or most uncertain moments, you are bearers of light so that they may see sacred visions for a different future. In these days of celebration, we give you and invite you to give each other the gift of appreciation and gratitude for the light that shines in our homes, in our communities, in our work places and in Canada through your presence, your love and your ministry. May the One who chooses to dwell among us fill your lives with peace.

We Welcome our New President
...
In her first words to the Board Members, she spoke of her vision for the CBAC: “It is my belief that a founding story is essential in the development and nurturing of community. As President of CBAC, I hope to be able to strengthen our conviction as Christians that women have a place in our founding story as told in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Working with Board members, Staff and Volunteers of CBAC, I want to commit my passion and my energy to enhancing the knowledge and love of the Bible among Roman Catholics.”
