Web sites on the Bible

The Bible and the Ancient World on the Internet

Compiled by Fr. Scott M. Lewis, S.J.

We hear a lot about the negative and exploitive uses of the Internet. At the same time, it continues to be a valuable resource for Biblical research, as well as spiritual and intellectual growth.

Professor Felix Just S.J., a professor of New Testament at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, has created two websites that are by far the leaders in their class.
His Links to Revelation, Apocalyptic and Millennial Websites and Materials can be found at

http://catholic-resources.org/

The world of John's Gospel is just a click away at Resources for Academic Study of the Fourth Gospel and the Letters of John, http://www.catholic-resources.org/

For a visual tour of the Holy Land and ancient biblical cities, over 800 photos are available for downloading at Holy Land Photos, http:www.holylandphotos.org .  Be sure to note the copyright and usage rules posted on the website. Ancient Rome and its emperors are alive and well at De imperatoribus Romanis, www.roman-emperors.org .

For a spiritual uplift in these uncertain and troubling times, visit a site dedicated to the spirituality of gratitude. This site was founded by the well-known spiritual writer Brother David Steindl-Rast, and can be visited at http://www.gratefulness.org/
