Catholic Biblical Organizations

Catholic Biblical Federation (CBF) is a Catholic world fellowship of administratively distinct international and local organizations committed to the biblical-pastoral ministry, created to carry out the recommendations of the II Vatican Council concerning the Bible.  The Federation's aim is to be of service to the Bishops in the fulfillment of their responsibility to proclaim the Word of God to all the faithful.  The CBF is open to the world and works on a world-wide scale. The CBAC is a member of the Federation.

 

The Catholic Biblical Association of America

The purpose of the CBAA is to promote, within a context of faith, scholarly study in Scripture and related fields by meetings of the association, publications, and support to those engaged in such studies.  One of the features of interest is their support of Archeological Digs.

Vatican the Holy See

CCCB - CECC  Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops

Founded in 1943 and officially recognized by the Holy See in 1948, the CCCB is the national association of Canada 's bishops. It is one of a network of Episcopal conferences established by Vatican Council II (1962-65) as permanent institutions where national bishops exercise certain pastoral offices. Currently the CCCB is active in issues such as: ecumenism, liturgy, Christian education, human rights, social justice in Canada and the Third World , respect for life, synods, relations with the Holy See and with other Episcopal conferences.

Catholic Women's League of Canada   

The CWL is an organization that contributes to the life and vitality of the church, family and community, both at home and abroad. The League was organized nationally on June 17, 1920 and granted federal incorporation on December 12, 1923 . The League is officially recognized by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops as a lay association of women and is affiliated with the World Union of Catholic Women's Organizations (WUCWO), a world-wide federation holding membership in the conference of International Catholic Organizations (ICO) and having consultative status with agencies of the United Nations.

Knights of Columbus

The K of C is a Catholic Family Fraternal Service Organization which was founded by Fr. Michael J. McGivney in 1882 in New Haven , Connecticut .  Fr. McGivney started the organization to help widows and orphans that had emigrated from Ireland .  In 1900 the first Council in Ontario was formed.  It was fitting that it was located in Ottawa , the Capital of Canada.

SIDIC Roma_International Jewish-Christian Documentation Service serviced by the Sisters of Sion, promotes mutual understanding and respect between Jews and Christians, makes known the heritage which Christianity and Western culture have received from the Jewish people and encourages the study of Jewish tradition and emphasize its importance for Christianity and for all humanity. The library, now located at the Gregorian University includes texts of documents of Jewish and Christian now with 202 documents on line. There are Links with Jewish-Christian Centers all over the world.

Jewish Encyclopedia, online version contains the complete contents of the 12-volume with over 15,000 articles and illustrations. The original work was completed almost 100 years ago and does not cover a significant portion of modern Jewish History (e.g., the creation of Israel, the Holocaust, etc.). However, it does contain an incredible amount of information that is remarkably relevant today.
